need all of your help for new neil related project
hi, you all helped me soo well on my previous art project, that I am going to ask you to help me again on my next project. I am going to "translate" the 12 songs of Neil on the the canvas as an art project. I paint from within, as Neil writes from within. I will try to bring his songs, the inner feel on the canvas, i will try to visualize what he feels while creating and singing the song. I paint as long as the song goes. when the songs stops, the painting will be ready. here i need your help : just react pure from your inner feel : which colours do the different songs evoke with you? for exemple : "hell yeah" has a lot of red and blue in it, according to me...it is interesting to see if this matches with your feel. plese let me know on patrick.gysemberg@skynet.be thanks a lot my precious fellow neil fans! best wishes patrick
have time to think about it since, not being a painter, I never thought about a song as a "color". I do know from the artwork I collect, I tend toward bright colors for fun and muted, soft colors when I'm mellow. Hummmm...how much time do we have to let you know. This will be fun.
I'll have to think about it as I listen to the CD today. Right off the top of my head, though, I picture Evermore as being the color of candlelight flickering in a breeze - maybe a pale yellow with a few streaks of light orangish-red.
you have!
match Neil's more relaxed feeling. Patrick does this make any sense at all !
She's turned my whole house into blue. Every piece of clothing she wears is blue and she insists all artwork should be blue. I think I'm going to get some colored sunglasses to survive!!1
it brings more than you can expect. this is real art! and it is great to see how you all relate this sons to color! i will definately take all remarks into considertion by preparing the stuff before i begin to paint since i have only the duration of the song to create. thanks already for the feedback!
so much fun for you, Patrick!! I definitely agree that "Hell Yeah" starts with 'blue' and then swells to the end with lots of 'red', ending in a triumphant, powerful black. I agree with ToniB that "Delirious Love" (BOTH versions) are RED HOT all the way but maybe starting out with shades of orange developing the passion into a deep crimson red with splashes of black for the 'intense power' of it all. "Captain Of A Shipwreck" has lots of "Caribbean waters 'blue', going from a soft 'translucent' blue to a darker blue/green/teal shade. "I'm On To You" ... definitely a bluesy/jazzy feel, so yes, blue, but also some deep indigo and some deep purples ... all shades of vivid blues and purples ... this is a song that has 'definitely strong' color to it in these shades. "Man of God" ... for some reason I see browns and blacks here ... don't know why but that's what I see ... shades developing from the lighter tans/camels to rich deep browns and into black. "Create Me" ... I see spiritual/inspirational tones of cream/ecru/off white slowing transcending into light blues and then darker shades of blues; I see these colors as having to be 'heavenly' in some way ... colors of white billowy clouds and incandescent blue skies. "Face Me" is a moment of decision, a crossroads in the relationship ... I see deep vivid shades here, but not 'angry' ones ... no 'red' for me in this song. I see light/medium shades of 'purples' and dark blues. "Evermore" ... this is a tough one .... definitely rich deep tones here because this song is very direct and honest with no gray. Maybe stark black and white on this one with a 'hint' of red for the passion of it all. "What's It Gonna Be" ... because of the country/western flavor of this song, I see 'earth tones' ... various tones of browns and blacks maybe with a 'touch' of green to complement the earth tones. "Save Me A Saturday Night" ... very easy=going lilting melody deserves similar colors ... soft colors ... blues and smoky tones of 'haze'. "We" ... just lots of 'happy colors' here ... yellows, oranges, fuschias, reds ... "Oh Mary" ... deep brooding tones, obsession ... deep midnight blues, rich purples and plums slowly fading to black. Good Luck!!!!!!
dunno if you care , guys, but i was able to promote neil on
Belgian Tv for about 1 million belgian viewers. yesterday we had the tape recordings. at one time the interviewer asks me (as a painter) if i play pusic during my work. what do you think my answer was? of course! and ONLY neil diamond...such an opporetunity i do not miss to promote neil, I was even able to say he just released a new album (but not in belgium yet !!!!)which proves he is a heck of a singer with such a long state of singing...they asked me what was my favourite song : i am i said, i answered...they asked me to sing it...i had to pass... so i do try my utmost to promote neil on this side of the ocean... just wanted to let you know...nothing more, nothing less...it is being broadcasted on TV 1 at 19.30 hrs on the 6th of january2006
It pays to advertise LOL I do it as often as I can when I go placess wearing my Neil tea shirts. What really bothers me is when someone says to me Is He Still Alive oh man then I get started .Keep it up Patrick.
persistance with which i defend him and his music. and he has reached an age to earn some respect, so mostly they agnowledge his existance and his music then...in return he should buy me a painting!just kidding, but it would be great...to get some response from him,(i asked him his support and blessing for this project, nothing heard though...he 's too busy touring...) since i am planning my new art project : 12 songs/12 paintings when i get some sponsors...see www.mylifeisart.com
Happy New Year Belgium !!!! Your english is very good !!
I think he'd be very grateful and moved by your loyalty.
Patrick. I really hope you get a response from Neil about this. Did you send a message to FOND about it? Since Neil is touring right now you might not get a response right away, but it sure sounds like an exciting project. Please let us know when you are going to do it and where we can see the paintings when you are done. Can't wait. I have your gift painting to us on my wall unit and get a lot of pleasure looking at it. Thank you again for that. All the best for 2006 Patrick.
